(BRONSON) – The City of Bronson has approved a contract to hire a construction manager for their City Hall and Police Department project.
Earlier this year, City officials announced they wanted to move their offices from the current City Hall at 141 South Matteson Street to the new Police Building at 120 West Chicago Road.
Monday night, Bronson City Manager Brandon Mersman shared with the City Council that four bids were sent in from companies that were interested in doing the project. LINKC.
The current City Hall building is 50 years old, and has 2,106 square feet of room. If the City offices move to the Police Building, which served as a bank for 34 years, they would share 4,360 square feet with the Police Department.
In addition there would be a cost savings with utilities if the City offices move into the Police Building.
Earlier this year, the City Council approved hiring Martin and Riley of Fort Wayne to serve as the architect for the project.
Mersman says Bronson would seek grants for the project, and could also seek a USDA low interest loan to help finance the work.
If the City Council agrees to move forward, it’s anticipated the project would be finished in June 2026.
