(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana residents may soon see money coming their way after a major antitrust settlement with Google, and Attorney General Todd Rokita is urging eligible Hoosiers to make sure they're ready. Rokita said Monday that about $10.5 million from a nationwide settlement with Google is expected to be distributed to eligible Indiana consumers. The settlement stems from a 2023 lawsuit accusing Google of anticompetitive conduct related to its Google Play Store, including allegations that the company unlawfully monopolized Android app distribution and in-app payment processing. The total national settlement reached by Rokita and other state attorneys general totals $700 million, with $630 million already placed into a restitution fund for consumers. Indiana itself is also set to receive about $1.4 million in penalties, according to Rokita. If the settlement is approved by the court, eligible consumers are expected to receive payments automatically and will not need to submit a claim. Still, Rokita encouraged anyone who currently has or previously had a Google Play account to visit the official settlement website and enter their contact information. "Doing so now will ensure that applicable consumers are notified once the final settlement has been approved by the court and funds start dispersing," Rokita said. Consumers who do not want to accept a payment and instead wish to pursue their own legal action against Google must formally opt out of the settlement by Feb. 19, 2026, either online or in writing."This is a big win for all Hoosiers and consumers nationwide," Rokita said. "For too long, big tech corporations have leveraged their monopoly power to extract profits at the expense of hardworking Americans."

A court hearing to approve or reject the settlement is scheduled for April 30, 2026. If approved, payments would follow later in the year.
