FREMONT, Ind. (WLKI)- A Fremont man faces a felony intimidation charge and two misdemeanor charges following an alleged disturbance at his apartment building Tuesday evening.

Dewey J. Imse, 58, was charged with Level 6 felony intimidation by threat of forcible entry, Class A misdemeanor resisting law enforcement and Class B misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Steuben Superior Court and reported by The Herald Republican, officers responded to the 700 block of West North Street at approximately 7:10 p.m. Tuesday. Police reported finding Imse outside his residence shouting profanities at neighbors.

Officers described him as intoxicated and agitated and escorted him into his apartment, according to the affidavit.

Imse told officers he remained upset about losing a green whistle at the American Legion. Police said they had responded to that complaint earlier, searched the property and did not find it. According to court records, he also had been barred from returning to the property.

Officers warned Imse about disorderly conduct, but police allege he repeatedly left his apartment and interrupted their efforts to speak with neighbors.

One neighbor told officers she feared Imse would force his way into her apartment after he approached her while shouting, according to the affidavit.

Police allege Imse struggled as officers attempted to arrest him, knocking a body camera from an officer's uniform. After he was handcuffed, officers said he braced his feet against a patrol vehicle's door frame and resisted being placed inside.

Officers took Imse to Cameron Hospital. There, police allege he attempted to kick two deputies and repeatedly threatened to kill people nearby.

The affidavit states that Imse continued resisting after arriving at the jail and was placed in restraints by corrections officers.

The allegations have not been proven in court. Imse is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
