AUBURN, Ind. (WLKI)- A new inclusive playground designed for children of different ages and abilities has opened in Auburn.
Fortify Life celebrated the grand opening of Fortify Play Wednesday at 1115 West Seventh Street. The playground is free to use and includes equipment intended to give more children and families opportunities to play together.
Fortify Play features a zip line, accessible merry-go-round, unity rocker and swings designed for varying ages and abilities. Separate play structures are available for children ages 2 to 5 and children ages 5 to 12.
Fortify Life Development Manager Sydney Kent said the project reflects the support of community members, businesses, organizations, volunteers and other partners who helped make the playground possible.
"This moment belongs to the entire community," Kent said. "Fortify Play is what community investment looks like in motion."
Organization leaders say the playground was created as a place where children and families can play, connect and enjoy time together in an accessible environment.
