(ANGOLA) -- Colts head coach Shane Steichen is stepping off the gridiron and onto the gala stage as the keynote speaker for Trine University's 22nd annual Scholarship Gala. The event kicks off Saturday, February 14th at 6 p.m. at the Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic and Recreation Center. Each year, the gala serves as one of Trine's biggest fundraisers for student scholarships.
University President Dr. Earl Brooks says hosting Steichen is an honor, noting that guests can expect valuable insight from what he described as a "successful season" for the Colts. Attendees will also enjoy a wine tasting, a gourmet dinner by Bon Appetit, live jazz from the Trine University Jazz Band, and a full slate of live and silent auctions featuring sports memorabilia, travel packages, artwork, and more. Steichen arrives with 18 years of coaching experience, including 14 seasons in the NFL. Since taking over in Indianapolis in 2023, he's led the team to consecutive top-10 rushing offenses. His résumé also includes helping the Philadelphia Eagles reach Super Bowl LVII and a long stint with the Chargers. The Scholarship Gala continues to be a major driver of student support, raising more than $1 million each of the last four years. This year's event once again features the "Books and Beyond" matching challenge, with Trine board chair Rick James and The James Foundation pledging a $300,000 match.
