DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WLKI)- An Albion woman was taken to a local hospital after a two-vehicle crash Monday at the intersection of U.S. 6 and State Road 327 in DeKalb County.
According to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, 57-year-old Carrie Ryman of Albion was driving a 2013 Volkswagen Beetle and had stopped at the intersection before entering U.S. 6 to turn west.
Investigators said a 2006 Toyota Sienna driven by 55-year-old J Gordilo of New Haven was traveling east on U.S. 6. Gordilo told deputies that a vehicle ahead of him turned south onto State Road 327, and Ryman then entered the highway.
The report states Gordilo was unable to stop and avoid the collision. The vehicles struck each other in the middle of the intersection.
Both vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage and were towed from the scene because of disabling damage. Airbags deployed in both vehicles.
Ryman was taken to a local hospital for medical attention after reporting pain. Gordilo reported no injuries.
The roadway was dry and clear at the time of the crash. Indiana State Police, Corunna Fire Department, Parkview EMS, Noel's Towing and DeKalb County Central Communications assisted at the scene.
