DEFIANCE COUNTY, OH. (WLKI) - The Defiance County Safe Communities Coalition is reminding drivers to make responsible choices behind the wheel during the annual "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign.

The national campaign runs from August 19 through September 7 and is being led by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in partnership with law enforcement agencies across the country, including local agencies in Defiance County.

The coalition says impaired driving is dangerous, illegal and can have deadly consequences. The campaign aims to reduce crashes caused by drivers operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Officials are encouraging anyone who plans to drink or use impairing substances to make arrangements for a sober ride before getting behind the wheel.

Drivers are also reminded that law enforcement will be watching for impaired drivers throughout the campaign.
