GARRETT, Ind. (WLKI)- Emma Dunning was crowned 2026 Miss Garrett during Saturday evening's pageant at the Garrett Performing Arts Center, earning the title as the event celebrated its 65th year.
According to The Herald Republican, Dunning, a Garrett High School senior, captured the crown after competing in talent, evening gown, fitness and interview portions of the competition. She is the daughter of Trenton Sibery and Dianne Palumbo and plans to attend Ball State University to become a high school world history teacher.
Outgoing Miss Garrett Tatum Lockhart crowned Dunning at the conclusion of the pageant. Along with the title, Dunning received a trophy, flowers and gifts from local businesses and organizations.
Payton Boltz was named first runner-up and also earned the People's Choice Award, selected by audience voting. Boltz performed a clogging routine to a medley of Michael Jackson songs during the talent competition and plans to attend Trine University to pursue a career as a neonatal intensive care unit nurse.
Several special awards were also presented during the evening. Chloe Zuehsow received the talent award for her vocal performance of "Orange Colored Sky." Megan Fox earned the evening gown award, while Mika Roxas won the shorts competition. Sam Wingate received the Precious Moments Award recognizing enthusiasm, support and congeniality throughout the pageant.
Natalie Yoho also competed, showcasing a volleyball demonstration during the talent portion of the event.
This year's pageant carried the theme "Mystical Magical," featuring performances inspired by magic-themed music and choreography. Contestants were evaluated on personal interviews, talent, evening gown and fitness, with interviews and talent accounting for the majority of the overall score.
The evening also included performances by outgoing royalty, local dancers and musicians before the new Miss Garrett was crowned.
