(BUTLER) - DeKalb County Eastern Community School District has received funding from United Way of DeKalb County to support its Kindergarten Countdown Summer Program.
The program is designed to help incoming kindergarten students build confidence and develop the skills needed for a successful transition into school.
Kindergarten Countdown focuses on early literacy, numeracy, social-emotional development and classroom readiness. Students participate in hands-on learning activities while becoming familiar with school routines and building relationships with teachers and classmates.
The program served 22 incoming kindergarten students during the district's June summer school session and included targeted instruction, enrichment activities and opportunities for family engagement.
