(ANGOLA) - Trine University has named alumna Kaitlin Siener as the new head coach of its cheer and dance teams.

Interim Athletic Director Andy Rang announced the hiring and said he expects the program to continue growing under Siener's leadership.

Siener graduated from Trine in 2023 after spending four years on the High Voltage Dance Team. During her time with the program, the team made its first appearance at the National Dance Alliance Championships and earned a third-place finish. She also served as a team captain for three years.

Since graduating, Siener has worked as a middle school math teacher while remaining active in competitive dance. She coached the Blackhawk Middle School dance team for two years and has spent the past year teaching at Craneisha's Dance Unlimited in Fort Wayne.

In a statement, Siener said Trine has always felt like home and that she is excited to return to lead the program. She said she looks forward to building on the recent success of both teams while helping student-athletes continue to grow and develop.

Siener began dancing at age four and earned multiple state and national championship qualifications during her high school career. She was also selected as an All-American three times before coming to Trine.
