(ANGOLA) - Trine University students earned multiple awards at the annual Indiana-Kentucky American Society of Civil Engineers Student Symposium held April 9 through April 11 at the University of Kentucky.

Eighteen students from Trine University's ASCE chapter participated in the event, which features team competitions focused on planning, design and construction projects, along with technical presentations.

A Trine team captured first place in the Mystery Design competition. Annalise O'Daniel of Indianapolis, a civil engineering major, was recognized as Best Speaker.

The Trine delegation also earned second place in civil engineering trivia. Additional Trine teams finished second in 3D printing, concrete cornhole and site development competitions.

Trine's concrete canoe team placed third overall.

"We all loved it! Great weather, venue and location," said Tim Tyler, Ph.D., one of two Trine faculty members who attended the symposium with students. "Plus, the students performed so well."

Next year's Indiana-Kentucky ASCE Student Symposium will be hosted by the University of Evansville.
