(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana Libertarian Party Chair Evan McMahon has been elected chair of the Libertarian National Committee.

McMahon won the position Sunday during the party's national convention after advancing through multiple rounds of delegate voting. Reports show he received 320 of 598 votes in the final round.

McMahon, an Indianapolis resident, has chaired the Libertarian Party of Indiana since 2021 and won a third two-year term earlier this year.

In remarks before the vote, McMahon called for growing party membership and encouraging more Libertarians to run for office, volunteer and support candidates.

The Libertarian Party of Indiana said the organization has seen some of its strongest election results during McMahon's leadership, including gubernatorial candidate Donald Rainwater receiving the highest percentage of votes nationwide among Libertarian governor candidates during the last two election cycles.

McMahon has also served as secretary of the Libertarian National Committee since 2025.

He told delegates he wants the national party to reach 66,000 dues-paying members by 2028.
