(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana residents will have two more opportunities this year to fish without purchasing a fishing license.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is reminding Hoosiers that the remaining 2026 Free Fishing Days are scheduled for June 6-7 and Sept. 26.

On those dates, Indiana residents may fish public waters without a fishing license or trout and salmon stamp.

DNR officials say the program is designed to encourage more people to try fishing and provide families with an easy and affordable way to enjoy Indiana's lakes, rivers and streams.

While license requirements are waived during Free Fishing Days, all other state fishing regulations remain in effect, including bag limits, size restrictions and seasonal rules.

The DNR says the events are an opportunity for experienced anglers to introduce friends and family members to the sport, while allowing newcomers to give fishing a try without the cost of a license.

Residents who enjoy the experience can purchase a 2026 annual fishing license, which remains valid through March 31, 2027.

Additional information about fishing regulations, locations and educational resources is available through the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
