(AUBURN) - DeKalb County Commissioners have given property owners more time to clean up nuisance violations in Corunna.

During public hearings Monday, commissioners reviewed two properties cited under the county's public nuisance ordinance.

One case involves a property in the 1300 block of County Road 13. Officials say issues there have been ongoing for more than three years, with code enforcement citing abandoned vehicles and other items. The property owner's family told commissioners cleanup efforts are underway. Commissioners approved a 30-day extension.

The second property, in the 0500 block of County Road 34, had been facing possible legal action after more than a year of violations. After hearing from the owner, who said cleanup had begun, commissioners agreed to delay a lawsuit and granted a 29-day extension.

County officials will provide an update on both properties at the commissioners' May 26 meeting.

In other business, Easterseals requested $45,000 in funding for 2027, the same amount as previous years. The request will be considered during budget planning.

Commissioners also moved forward with a request for more than $21,000 to develop a new county website, as the current provider is closing.

Additionally, officials say time capsules have arrived for a project tied to the nation's 250th anniversary. The capsules will be placed in a restored cannon on the courthouse lawn and are expected to be opened in 50 years.
