(ANGOLA) - Tomorrow is Good Friday, residents across northeast Indiana, southern Michigan and northwest Ohio are being urged to check ahead before heading to government offices, schools, courts or financial institutions.

In Indiana, Good Friday is an official state holiday, meaning many county offices, courthouses, clerks offices and other public agencies -- including offices frequently used by Steuben County residents -- may be closed for the day.

In Michigan and Ohio, closures are more mixed.

While Good Friday is not a statewide public holiday in either state, some local governments, schools, courts and private offices may still close or operate on reduced hours.

That could especially affect residents who cross state lines for legal matters, public records, school business or other government services.

The stock market will be closed Friday, while most commercial banks are expected to remain open, though local branch hours can vary.

Mail delivery and most trash pickup services are also expected to continue on normal schedules.

The best advice for residents across the region: call ahead or check online before making the trip, especially for public offices, courts, schools and locally owned businesses that may observe the holiday.
