(INDIANAPOLIS) -- Three hundred Indiana National Guard soldiers and airmen are back in Indiana after a four-month deployment in Washington, D.C.
The troops were sent to the nation's capital in December as part of the "D.C. Safe and Beautiful" mission at the request of the D.C. National Guard.
The Indiana National Guard says the troops served in a specialized response force that supported local law enforcement, with training that included de-escalation and crowd management.
Most of the returning troops are from units based in Bloomington and Gary.
The deployment ended this week, with soldiers now returning to their home communities across Indiana.
