(FORT WAYNE) - A familiar pair of peregrine falcons is back in downtown Fort Wayne, and their 2026 nesting season is already underway.

Moxie and her longtime mate Jamie have returned to their nest atop the Indiana Michigan Power tower and have laid their first egg of the season.

The pair has nested at the I&M Center since 2013 and has produced more than 30 chicks over the years. This marks their 14th breeding season together.

Wildlife experts note the season is especially significant, as breeding can become more difficult with age. Moxie is 15 years old, and Jamie is 16.

Peregrine falcons typically lay between two and six eggs per season. A second egg could arrive as soon as Monday.

Eggs usually hatch within 33 to 35 days, and the public can follow the nesting process through the Falcon Cam available online.
