(GARRETT) - A volunteer-run thrift store in Garrett has made its largest donation ever to help support free healthcare in northeast Indiana.

The Star newspaper reports the Curiosity Shop recently presented $206,439 to St. Martin's Healthcare, surpassing last year's donation of $180,000. The funds were raised through the shop's sales and operations during 2025.

The Curiosity Shop is a nonprofit thrift store operated entirely by volunteers and located at 1209 South Randolph Street in Garrett. The store sells donated clothing, household goods and other items, with proceeds going directly to St. Martin's Healthcare.

The shop's success is credited to strong community support, generous donations and a dedicated volunteer team -- many of whom are retirees.

The funds will help St. Martin's Healthcare continue providing free medical, dental, vision and mental health services to uninsured and underinsured residents in DeKalb, LaGrange, Noble and Steuben counties.

Representatives from St. Martin's say the donation will help the clinic maintain operations and expand services for patients who might otherwise go without care.
