(INDIANAPOLIS) - IndyCar Series has reached new multi-year agreements with Honda Motor Co. and Chevrolet, ensuring both manufacturers will continue supplying engines to the open-wheel racing series.

Series officials said the extensions will take effect beginning with the 2027 season, although specific contract terms were not disclosed.

IndyCar also announced that starting in 2028, both manufacturers will be allowed to own a charter in the series -- a move leaders say strengthens long-term stability and investment in the sport.

The agreements end speculation that Honda might withdraw from IndyCar after previously reviewing its global motorsports commitments. Honda's prior contract had been set to expire after the 2026 season.

Series President J. Douglas Boles said both companies will play a major role in developing a new IndyCar chassis scheduled to debut in 2028.

Officials described the deals as critical for maintaining momentum in North America's premier open-wheel racing series, which relies on the two manufacturers as its exclusive engine suppliers.
