(COLDWATER) - A Union City man has been sentenced to decades in prison following convictions for criminal sexual conduct involving children and delivering drugs to a minor.

Anthony Cuyler was convicted January 8, 2026, of three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving two children under the age of 13, along with one count of delivery of methamphetamine to a minor. The crimes occurred on July 23 and July 24, 2019.

On February 9, Cuyler was sentenced to 45 to 90 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections on the criminal sexual conduct convictions. He was also sentenced to 18 to 40 years for the methamphetamine conviction. The sexual assault convictions carry mandatory prison terms of at least 25 years and allow for sentences up to life in prison.

If ever granted parole, Cuyler will be subject to lifetime electronic monitoring and will be required to register as a sex offender.

After charges were authorized, investigators were initially unable to locate Cuyler. Authorities later received information indicating he may have fled to Mexico. After local and state efforts to locate and extradite him were unsuccessful, federal agencies were asked to assist.

The case was reviewed under Operation Survivor Justice, a U.S. Marshals Service initiative focused on pursuing justice for victims of sex crimes in Michigan. The Marshals determined Cuyler was in Mexico and coordinated his expulsion. He was arrested in March 2024 and returned to Michigan to face charges.

The prosecution was led by the Michigan Attorney General's Office, with assistance from the Branch County Prosecutor's Office. Local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, including the Union City Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service, assisted in bringing the case to resolution.

Officials said the sentence ensures long-term accountability and justice for the victims involved.
