(FREMONT) - Students at Fremont Elementary School raised $1,391 this year through their annual Christmas Coin Drive, supporting local seniors with holiday gifts and essential items, according to Fremont Community Schools.
The funds were used to purchase gifts for 41 residents at Brockville Commons, including blankets, Christmas ornaments, household supplies, coloring books, word search puzzles, and colored pencils.
High school students volunteered their time to help pack the items for distribution, while Fremont staff members delivered the gifts to Brockville Commons during winter break.
School officials said the annual drive provides students with an opportunity to give back to the community while learning the importance of service, generosity, and connection with local residents--especially during the holiday season.
