Friday, May 13, 2022

(CALVIN TOWNSHIP) – Speed is believed to a factor in a one vehicle rollover accident.

The Cass County Sheriff's Department says just after 8 PM Wednesday, 23 year old Isaiah Nicks of South Bend was driving west on Calvin Center Road, near the intersection of Calvin Hill Street. Deputies say Nicks lost control of his vehicle, going off the road and striking a power pole on the north side. Nicks' vehicle then went across the road, overturned, and struck a tree on the south side.

Nicks was taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital to be treated for non life threatening injuries. His passenger, 22 year old Alexis Taylor, was evaluated at the scene but refused any further medical treatment.

Both Nicks and Taylor were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident, which is still under investigation. Assisting deputies were the Penn Township Fire Department, Pride Care EMS, Edwardsburg EMS and the Michigan State Police.
