(DEKALB COUNTY) - Two Indianapolis women were taken to the hospital after a vehicle struck a deer on Interstate 69 in DeKalb County late Saturday night.
The crash happened at 10:55 p.m. in the northbound lanes near the 328-mile marker.
Investigators say a 2018 Subaru Forester driven by 21-year-old Acelyn Ward of Indianapolis was traveling northbound when it struck a deer head-on.
Ward complained of minor head and leg pain. Her passenger, 22-year-old Fiona Mentzer of Indianapolis, complained of head pain and suffered a slight cut to her forehead.
Both women were taken by Parkview EMS to Parkview Regional Hospital in Fort Wayne for treatment of minor injuries.
The Subaru was listed as a total loss.
The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office was assisted by DeKalb County Central Communications, Noel's Towing and Parkview EMS.
