(COLUMBUS) - Ohio State University has expanded its settlement total to more than $61 million in cases tied to former physician Richard Strauss.

University officials say 13 additional survivors have reached settlement agreements totaling about $1.8 million, bringing the total number of survivors compensated to 317.

The settlements are part of an ongoing effort to resolve decades-old abuse allegations involving Strauss, who worked at the university for years.

Ohio State says the agreements were reached through mediation and individual settlement programs established in recent years.

The case stems from allegations of abuse involving students over multiple decades, with settlements continuing as additional claims are resolved.
