(HILLSDALE) - Firefighters battled a large grass fire Monday in Cambria Township.
Crews were called to the 3300 block of Cambria Road just before noon, where an estimated 15 to 20 acres of grass had already burned by the time firefighters arrived.
The Hillsdale City and Reading fire departments were called in to assist with the response.
Firefighters remained on scene for about an hour, and officials say there was no significant property damage.
The fire serves as another reminder that grass fire season is underway, even when the ground still feels damp from recent rain.
Fire officials say dry grass and other fast-drying materials can quickly become combustible and are urging residents to wait until grass greens up before doing any outdoor burning.
They also stress never burning on windy days and never leaving a fire unattended.
