(ANGOLA) - Trine University has named longtime athletic director Matt Land as its new vice president for advancement as the school prepares for a leadership transition.

Land will take on the role as Dr. Tony Kline prepares to become the university's 19th president on June 1, succeeding current president Dr. Earl D. Brooks II.

In his new position, Land will lead fundraising and alumni engagement efforts, including developing donor strategies and expanding outreach across the university.

Andy Rang, head coach of Trine women's basketball, will serve as interim athletic director during the transition while the university searches for a permanent replacement.

Land has been with Trine since 2006, first as head football coach before becoming athletic director in 2012. During his tenure, the university expanded athletic facilities and added multiple sports programs, with teams winning three NCAA Division III national championships since 2023.

Rang has led the women's basketball program since the 2018-19 season, compiling a 184-41 record and guiding the Thunder to consistent NCAA Tournament appearances.
