(COLUMBUS) - A man who previously worked as a bodyguard for Ohio governor candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is facing federal drug trafficking charges.

Justin Salsburey, 43, of Bellefontaine, and his wife are accused of receiving hundreds of packages containing counterfeit OxyContin and other illegal pills through the U.S. mail. Federal court records say more than 260 parcels were delivered to their home over about a year.

Ramaswamy's campaign said Salsburey was employed by a private security company and was removed from the family's security detail immediately after the allegations came to light. The campaign said the family was alarmed by the charges.

Salsburey is being held in the Franklin County jail. His wife was arrested and later released. The case is being handled in federal court.
