ANGOLA — The Steuben County Board of Commissioners decided against seeking a grant to provide the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department with body cameras for their officers.
Steuben County Sheriff R.J. Robinson was seeking approval to seek a grant for the equipment, but still would have left the county having to pay $38,500 for the equipment.
The grant program was being offered by Motorola. It would have provided body cameras officers, as well as support, maintenance and internet storage of images for five years.
The decision on the measure was a 1-2 vote with Commissioner Ken Shelton being the only yes vote.
Commissioners Wil Howard and Andy Laughlin voted no.
